The Hybrid Journey is a companion book to an installation series that has been evolving since 2022. The series consists of three installations, each centered around a so-called Hybrid. The installations are titled Being Hybrid Shelly, Being Hybrid Donna, and Being Hybrid Lexi.
The Hybrids are sculptures made of textiles and plastics that function as new archetypes. Complemented by digital collages, found objects, and sound, they reflect on the creation, reproduction, and mutability of symbols and archetypes—especially those associated with femininity.
The book accompanies the interconnected installations, tracing their "evolution" and reinterpreting them by incorporating tools such as artificial intelligence.
It first introduces the myth that emerged during the creation of the Hybrids and has continued to evolve with each new iteration.
Furthermore, it explores theoretical concepts—from C.G. Jung’s theory of archetypes to feminist critique. These reflections offer a deeper engagement with the symbols and narratives that shape our society.
The final part of the book documents the physical installations.
With The Hybrid Journey, I invite readers to immerse themselves even further in the world of the Hybrids and to explore the philosophical foundations of my work.
