“Being Hybrid Shelly” is the first installation in the series „The Hybrid Journey", which critically examines the representation of historical and contemporary, female-associated symbols and archetypes.

“Hybrid Shelly” symbolizes a double “resurrection”: it marks the beginning of a hero’s journey while also representing the potential to return to oneself, despite the external determination and artificiality of one’s identity, as well as the societal pressure on female- associated bodies. It speaks to the gradual process of freeing oneself from these constraints.

This duality of artificiality and vitality is reflected in the materials and form of “Hybrid Shelly.” Artificial fabrics, nails, and hair create a protective shell that functions like armor, yet also suggests that something new and living is ready to break free from within.
